JBL launches new Charge 4 portable Bluetooth speaker

Now in its fourth generation, the JBL Charge 4 portable Bluetooth speaker aims to better the five-star reputation of its predecessor, the Charge 3. The battery has been beefed up to 7500mAh, which should give you around 20 hours of playback and have some extra left over to charge your smartphone using the USB port.

The rugged design is built for the muddy outdoors, with IPX7-rated waterproofing, and under the tough rugby-ball shell lies a proprietary full-range driver and two bass radiators.

The Charge 4 comes in ten colours: Desert Sand, Mustard Yellow, Dusty Pink, Grey Storm, River Teal, Fiesta Red, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Steel White and Forest Green. Phew.

Costing a competitive £160, the new JBL Charge 4 will be available in October.

Other new portable speakers from JBL include the PartyBox 200 and PartyBox 300 - they're perfect for big parties that love a colourful, flashing light show when music is played over Bluetooth or USB.

You can connect two PartyBox speakers together wirelessly or using RCA plugs, and the 300 lasts for 18 hours on its built-in battery.

The PartyBox 200 and 300 cost £330 and £400 respectively, and are available from October.

Last up is the pocket-sized JRPOP, which is designed specially for kids in every way, from durability and multi-coloured flashing lights to multiple brightly colours finishes and even a sticker set. We hope it’s more than just JBL logos - kids can be discerning.

There’s a small fabric strap for carrying the JRPOP around, it’ll last five hours on a single battery charge, and will cost just £30.
