At both front and rear the Pioneer S-HS100 uses cute and compact, cube speakers. These feature a 7.7cm cone driver for a surprisingly spacious and dynamic sound quality. Being so compact they can easily be positioned on bookcases, mantelpieces or even discreetly mounted on the wall. The front speakers are shielded so they won't affect any stored data or CRT screens close by. The centre speaker is acoustically matched to the other satellites but features a longer casing for a broader, more even spread of dialogue. Together, the sound stage produced by the satellite speakers is enveloping and fulsome.
To add some heft to proceedings, the Pioneer SHS100 comes complete with a powerful subwoofer. With a built-in 100 watt amp and a generous 16cm cone, the S-HS100 drives soundtracks along with real conviction.
